  • McCall’s Meat & Fish relocated to Atwater Village as part of a new chapter for the brand. Moving into a new neighborhood meant more than simply fitting into a different shell — it required translating an established identity, operational rhythm, and customer experience into a new physical context.

The project was approached as a careful transition rather than a reinvention. As a tenant improvement, the focus was on shaping a space that could carry forward what the shop was already known for, while responding thoughtfully to the character and pace of its new surroundings.

  • Relocating into an existing building introduced a layered set of constraints. Fixed utilities, inherited conditions, and a defined TI scope set clear boundaries for the design. At the same time, the space needed to accommodate specialized meat and seafood operations, comply with health department regulations, and support a smooth customer experience from day one.

The challenge was to align an existing brand and workflow with a new site — ensuring operational efficiency behind the scenes while maintaining a front-of-house presence that felt natural, welcoming, and grounded in the neighborhood.

  • Rather than relying on formal gestures, the design focused on clarity and continuity. Spatial organization was carefully refined to support daily operations, with clear relationships between preparation areas, service zones, and customer circulation. Public and back-of-house functions were deliberately organized to work in parallel, maintaining openness without exposing complexity.

Through precise planning and close coordination with regulatory and operational requirements, the space was shaped to feel both familiar and new — allowing McCall’s Meat & Fish to settle into Atwater Village with confidence. The result is an interior that supports the brand’s transition seamlessly, enabling it to operate efficiently while becoming part of the everyday rhythm of its new neighborhood.
