The Kilbourn Residence is a single-family hillside structure located in NELA, across Dodger Stadium. Through staggered massing and a playful interaction between void and matter, the building increases the three-dimensionality and depth of the facade, creating an elegant and lively attitude for this house.

This house is perched atop the street, creating a lush yard on a relatively steep site. While highlighting picturesque views, it maintains a comfortable relationship with the outside world. A short wall beside the house provides a friendly scale and extends the approach and access to the residence. The arrangement of stucco and wood slat materials on the facade provides differing expressions from various angles. The dialogue between materials creates a rhythm of diversity.

This design expresses attitudes that are friendly to nature and highlight human context from various strategies, creating a warm and fresh natural house.
